Our Commitment to Students
The Amodini Brindaban Mandal Education Trust began its noble mission in 2014, by honoring the top-performing students in the Secondary Examination conducted by WBBSE from Birbhum District, recognizing both girls and boys category toppers. The inaugural Award Giving Ceremony was held at the Muruli Dangal Primary School campus, where eminent educationists from the region were invited to grace the occasion. To further encourage academic spirit at the grassroots level, all students from the village who successfully cleared the Madhyamik Examination were also felicitated.
From 2016, the Trust expanded its scope to include State rank holders from Birbhum District, continuing this tradition until 2019. That year, the venue shifted from the school campus to the founder’s residence in Muruli Dangal. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 ceremony was delayed, and no awards were presented for the 2021 batch, as board examinations were not held. However, the 2020 awards were conferred in 2021, and a new milestone was marked with the introduction of the Dr. Sangeeta Mandal Smriti Award, instituted by Smt. Bithika Mandal in memory of her beloved daughter. The first recipient was Alo Mandal of Dubrajpur Saredeswari Vidyalaya, who qualified NEET and secured admission to SSKM, Kolkata. From that year onward, the ceremony venue was shifted to Suri, Birbhum.
In 2022, the Trust continued its tradition at Suri, presenting both regular and special awards. Notable recognitions included:
- Monira Khatun, who secured 8th rank in WBCHSE from Muruli Dangal.
- Rani Mandal, a member of the Trust’s founding family, who qualified NEET and was admitted to an MBBS course.
- BKTPP Prabir Sengupta Vidyalaya, honored with an Award of Excellence for consistent performance in WBBSE exams since 2018. The award was received jointly by the Headmaster and Staff Council Secretary, along with a special congratulatory package.
The 2023 ceremony was held in the presence of distinguished educationists. A special Dr. Sangeeta Mandal Smriti Award was presented to Md. Rejatullah of Itagoria High School, who scored an impressive 705 out of 720 in NEET and secured admission to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
The list of awardees, along with their credentials and photographs, is documented under events . A separate section also highlights the prominent personalities (excluding family and friends of awardees) who attended these ceremonies over the years.

President foreword
As the founding president of the Amodini Brindaban Mandal Education Trust, I, Mr. Syama Prasad Mandal, feel honored to share the story behind our family’s commitment to education. Raised in a lower-middle-class, educated family in the remote village of Muruli Dangal, Birbhum District, I developed a deep passion for learning and student welfare early in my career as a teacher. My efforts were initially scattered, driven by instinct and love for education. However, after the passing of my mother, Smt. Amodini Mandal, I felt a strong urge to create something lasting. In 2014, I founded this charitable trust in memory of both my parents—Late Shri Brindaban Mandal, a respected pre-Independence teacher at Gonpur School, and Smt. Amodini Mandal, whose devotion to education and the guidance of my elder brother, Mr. Sankari Prasad Mandal, helped shape our family into one of the most educated in the region.
The Trust was formally established through Registered Deed No. IV-248/2014 dated 25/06/2014, with a clear mission: to uplift the educational standards of Birbhum District both quantitatively and qualitatively. Our initiatives focus on awareness, motivation, and fostering a competitive spirit among students. To honor academic excellence, we introduced two awards—Amodini Mandal Smriti Award and Brindaban Mandal Smriti Award—each comprising a certificate and a cash prize of ₹20,000. Since 2016, we have also been felicitating State rank holders in the WBBSE Madhyamik Examination from Birbhum District. Additionally, all successful Madhyamik candidates from my native village are recognized annually to encourage grassroots achievement. In 2021, Smt. Bithika Mandal, a member of the Executive Body, instituted a new award in memory of her daughter, Dr. Sangeeta Mandal, to promote medical education among girls in the district.
The Trust is a charitable family organization, comprising the sons, daughters, and grandchildren of Amodini and Brindaban Mandal. It is governed by an Executive Body, selected or elected from among its members, who oversee the Trust’s activities and uphold its founding values. This institution stands not only as a tribute to our ancestors but also as a living embodiment of our family’s enduring belief in the transformative power of education. The current Executive Body members are listed below.
